Questions
Good questions,straight answers.
How often should a deck or fence be stained here?
In Sacramento-area sun, most decks need fresh stain every two to three years and fences every three to five, depending on exposure and the product used. We'll tell you what to expect for yours.
What's the difference between stain and paint on a fence?
Stain soaks into the wood and wears gradually, so recoating is easy. Paint forms a film that can peel outdoors. For most decks and fences in our climate, stain is the better long-term choice.
Do you replace damaged boards?
Yes — repairs are part of the job. Loose, cracked or rotted boards are fixed or replaced before staining, and listed line by line in your proposal.
When is the best time of year to stain?
Spring and fall are ideal, when it's dry but not extremely hot. We schedule around the weather so the stain cures properly.
